Vlog - PLME (sun allergy) March 16, 2008
I have a condition known as PMLE which stands for Polymorphic Light Eruption. In plain English, it means my body sometimes incorrectly thinks it’s under attack from UV light and thus, I get an allergic response (rash) from the sun. I’ve had this condition for years now. My case is pretty mild and my outbreaks are random. This time around, unfortunately, it’s lasting WAY longer than normal and it’s been two week of unbroken rash. It’s really bumming me out and it highly frustrating. I’m greatly embarrassed by how my skin looks when I break out in the rash, but I’m hopeful that by talking about it openly and publicly, I can not only help get through some of my fears, but help educate other people about the condition. I’ve tried to capture a little of what it looks like, but it’s really difficult to get it properly on film. Its a lot redder than it appears here, and much more “bumpy” and “rashy” but this at least gives you an idea. For my scratching.
The ice it happenswith just two minutes of sun time get headaches nausea and found that ice reallly really helped.

Hi, why not ask for a small doz. of steroid to help relieve the inflamation…I took it for 3 months..Then continue avoiding the sun.Or wear protector..I used a long gloves everytime I go out. esp when driving. Your lucky you don’t have any in your face. I have some in my nose. I’m also using bethamethasone for the rash.twice a day. Goodluck!

You’d want to see a dermatologist since they are specialist doctors that deal with skin. There’s not much that can be done though. Avoiding sun exposure, wearing sunscreen at all times and treating outbreaks with topical creams to prevent itch like Hydrocortisone are about all you can do.

I went to highschool with somebody with bad sun allergies. They had to wear gloves and a mask and everything, and he used to ride his bike at night. He had other problems too and later died.

Allergy also it happens everytime am in my whole life any part of my body except most of my body except most of months ago and really bad hives have sun allergy also it started couple of my arms and uvb protection.

An allergy to avoid sunlight and when go out have hard time breathing get dizzy headaches red bumps all sorts of things im not actually diagnosed though just try to sunlight and it doesnt bother me too much.
