Symptoms of spring allergies?

Liquid L asked:
I used to have allergies when I lived in the south, but since moving to NYC four years ago I hadn’t experienced them. All of a sudden this spring, I’m experiencing symptoms again, i.e. itching eyes/nose, sneezing, itchy throat. However, this time, I’m EXTREMELY tired all the time, like to the point that I feel like I just wanna sleep all day. This is not normal for me and I haven’t started taking any allergy medication yet, so it couldn’t be that. Does anyone know if extreme fatigue if a symptom of spring allergies/hayfever or should I be concerned about something else?

Pollen counts were so high this year that lots of people had allergy problems that normally don’t. I would treat the allergy problems first (OTC generic Claritin [loratadine] is a good choice for most people and doesn’t make you tired or sleepy. If the fatigue persits after the allergy symptoms resolve you might want to see your doctor about it.

most people who have promblems with hay /season or spring fever… deal with all you mention, but not normally the sleep deperation… in some manners its normal, but you could have something else going on, if you are still worried about it, go see a doctor…

Yes I have had sudden fatigue right after an allergy attack.I think it was because I would have fits of sneezing.
