Has the spring allergy season gotten worse over the past few years?

badhand asked:

I live in the North East, and I have noticed that it has become harder and harder to deal with the “Spring Allergy” season over the last 5 years or so. I am thirty years old, and have had to start taking allergy medications. In addition, this “season” seems to be starting earlier and ending later every year. I remember having mild allergies as a child (never more than a sneezing episode or two per day in the spring) and I never required pills like Claritin or Allegra. I don’t even remember suffering at all during my teens or early twenties. Now I can’t leave my bedroom every morning in May or June without one of these pills. Is this the effect of “climate change”, could this area be populated with different plants over the past five years? Is it possible my body is just changing and NOT the environment? I am seriously considering moving out of the area because I don’t want to keep putting these medications in my body. They can’t be good for my health.

Not sure but, I do know that Allergies can worsen with age. I no allergies as a child (except towards smoke). As I got into my 30’s I seem to get more sensitive each year. I live in Florida so our spring/fall weather (Jan-Mar) is in the winter and that is when my allergies seem to bother me. Durring the summer (Apr-Dec) I am fine.

consume raw honey that also contains propolis… the combination of the two helps you to adapt to these allergens in the air during that time. the chemicals you take only suppresses the symptons, not help you to adapt to them…
… your local health food store should have itl…

I agree with you, I live in the deep South and I have in the past 3 years, allergies so bad that I haven’t left my home but just long enough to the doctor and each time I go I have wear a mask over my mouth and nose. I sneeze, I cough and spit of thick sputum and I take Zyrtec every night all year round. I get to where I can’t breath good and I mean it gets worst every year, I hate it because it makes you fell so tired and you have no energy, I have a large home and just to vacuum one room just gets me down , because I don’t have any energy because of all this coughing and sneezing. It makes you short breath. When fall comes and I get back to being myself, it is pure hell.

I live in the south so it is worse. how long have you been like this?? I would wait and if things dont get better then i would move too.

It is not just in the northeast it is everywhere and it is because of global warming. Everything is getting greener, but we are seeing more reports of ashma and bronchitis especially in children. I can’t even go out of the house when the oak season comes because I usually end up with pneumonia. I dodge it this year because I didn’t go outside for a month and used a nebulizer. Stock up on allergy meds-it will probably be worse next year.
